Divergence bounds for random fixed-weight vectors obtained by sorting

چکیده

This note analyzes the distribution of fixed-weight vectors obtained by the following procedure: generate a sequence of uniform random integers with a moderate number of bits; force the bottom bits of the sequence to be a standard fixed-weight vector; sort the sequence; and extract the bottom bits. This note shows, for example, that this procedure with 32-bit integers produces any particular weight-119 6960bit vector with probability <1.02/ ( 6960 119 ) .

Bounds for Functions of Multivariate Risks

Abstract. Li, Scarsini, and Shaked (1996a) provide bounds on the distribution and the tail for functions of dependent random vectors having fixed multivariate marginals. In this paper, we correct a result stated in the above article and we give improved bounds in the case of the sum of identically distributed random vectors. Moreover, we provide the dependence structures meeting the bounds when...

Estimation of Variance Components for Body Weight of Moghani Sheep Using B-Spline Random Regression Models

The aim of the present study was the estimation of (co) variance components and genetic parameters for body weight of Moghani sheep, using random regression models based on B-Splines functions. The data set included 9165 body weight records from 60 to 360 days of age from 2811 Moghani sheep, collected between 1994 to 2013 from Jafar-Abad Animal Research and Breeding Institute, Ardabil province,...

Zero Biasing in One and Higher Dimensions, and Applications

Given any mean zero, finite variance σ2 random variable W , there exists a unique distribution on a variable W ∗ such that EWf(W ) = σ2Ef ′(W ∗) for all absolutely continuous functions f for which these expectations exist. This distributional ‘zero bias’ transformation of W to W ∗, of which the normal is the unique fixed point, was introduced in [9] to obtain bounds in normal approximations. Af...

Two-and Three-valued Codes For

A code designed for communication over a band-limited channel perturbed by white Gaussian noise and satisfying an equal-power input constraint can be represented mathematically as a set of points on the surface of a sphere in n-dimensional Euclidean space. For a given number M of code points, it is generally desirable from the standpoint of transmission reliability to select the code points in ...
